With a View of the Sea

The history of the Kashubia is inseparably connected with the Polish coast and the people whose everyday lives were shaped for generations by the rhythm of the Baltic. For those living in coastal towns and villages, the sea was not simply part of the landscape. It was a place of work, a source of livelihood, and a natural part of life.

It is from this environment that the Kashubia originates. Its distinctive form references the caps worn by people of the sea: fishermen, skippers, and sailors. The small visor protected the eyes, the band kept the cap secure on the head, and the simple construction was well suited to the demands of everyday work.

From the Deck to Everyday Life

Over time, the Kashubia began to move beyond the environment from which it originated. Like many other elements of clothing with utilitarian roots, it was no longer associated exclusively with a particular profession. Caps worn by fishermen, skippers, and sailors also began to appear in everyday wardrobes.

Even today, its silhouette evokes associations with the coast, the deck of a ship, and the traditional caps worn by people of the sea. This does not mean, however, that it requires a nautical outfit. Quite the opposite. Its simple form means it can be worn both with more classic looks and as a distinctive element of an everyday wardrobe.

Natural Wool

We made the Kashubia from natural wool, a material that has been used for generations in the production of headwear. Its properties are perfectly suited to the character of this classic style, while providing comfort, durability, and suitable protection from the cold.

Wool has natural thermoregulating properties. It helps maintain thermal comfort while allowing the skin to breathe and managing moisture effectively. This makes it particularly well suited to colder autumn and winter days.

One Hundred Years of Passion and Craftsmanship.

In 1926, Anna Sterkowska opened her workshop in Warsaw. She could not have known that four generations later, her great-grandchildren would be making caps for people all over the world.

She knew one thing: that a good cap requires excellent materials and craftsmanship.

For one hundred years, nothing has changed in this philosophy. Every cap that leaves our workshop is the result of knowledge passed down from generation to generation. We are proud to continue bringing you new caps and hats every day.
