With a View of the Sea

The history of the Kashubia is inseparably connected with the Polish coast and the people whose everyday lives were shaped for generations by the rhythm of the Baltic Sea. For those living in coastal towns and villages, the sea was not simply part of the landscape. It was a place of work, a source of livelihood, and a natural part of life.

The Kashubia is rooted in this very environment. Its distinctive shape draws inspiration from caps worn by people of the sea: fishermen, skippers, and sailors. The small visor protected the eyes, the band kept the cap securely in place, and its simple construction suited the demands of everyday work.

From the Deck to Everyday Life

Over time, the Kashubia began to move beyond the environment from which it originated. Like many other garments with functional roots, it was no longer associated exclusively with a particular profession. Caps worn by fishermen, skippers, and sailors gradually found their way into everyday wardrobes as well.

Even today, its silhouette evokes associations with the coast, the deck of a ship, and the traditional caps worn by people of the sea. That does not mean, however, that it requires a nautical outfit. Quite the opposite. Its simple form means it can be worn both with more classic looks and as a distinctive element of an everyday wardrobe.

Natural Wool

We made the Kashubia from natural wool, a material that has been used for generations to make headwear. Its properties perfectly complement the character of this classic style while providing comfort, durability, and suitable protection from the cold.

Wool has natural thermoregulating properties. It helps maintain thermal comfort while allowing the skin to breathe and effectively managing moisture. This makes it particularly well suited to colder autumn and winter days.

One Hundred Years of Passion and Craftsmanship.

In 1926, Anna Sterkowska opened a workshop in Warsaw. She could not have known that four generations later, her great-grandchildren would be making caps for people all over the world.

She knew one thing - that a good cap requires excellent materials and craftsmanship.

For one hundred years, nothing in this philosophy has changed. Every cap that leaves our workshop is the result of knowledge passed down from generation to generation. We are proud to continue bringing you new caps and hats every day.
