A Classic in a Smaller Form

Over the years, caps worn by sailors and skippers have taken many different forms. The proportions of the crown, the length of the visor, and the finishing details changed, but the distinctive silhouette with its pronounced band remained, and to this day it evokes associations with ship decks and harbor quays.

The Chandler is one of the more compact interpretations of this style. Its small crown is similar in proportion to the Hamburka, while the short downward-sloping visor gives the cap its distinctive silhouette. Embroidered trim and a decorative cord on the band complete its classic form.

It is these proportions that most clearly distinguish the Chandler from more elaborate skipper caps. Instead of a larger crown and more distinguished character, we have a simpler, more compact cap that retains clear references to nautical tradition.

From the Port to the Streets

Like other caps originating from the world of sailing, this style eventually moved beyond its association with ship decks. A form that was originally designed primarily for practical purposes found its place in the everyday wardrobe.

The Chandler’s compact construction means that its nautical origins do not dictate how it should be worn. The short visor and small crown create a distinctive silhouette that works equally well with a classic coat, a simple jacket, or a more casual outfit.

However, elements that recall the world from which this style originated remain. The band, decorative cord, and embroidered trim still evoke associations with the traditional caps worn by people of the sea.

Natural Wool

We made the Chandler from natural wool, a material that has been used for generations in the production of headwear. Its properties are perfectly suited to the character of this classic style, while providing comfort, durability, and suitable protection from the cold.

Wool has natural thermoregulating properties. It helps maintain thermal comfort while allowing the skin to breathe and managing moisture effectively. This makes the Chandler particularly well suited to colder autumn and winter days.

One Hundred Years of Passion and Craftsmanship

In 1926, Anna Sterkowska opened her workshop in Warsaw. She could not have known that four generations later, her great-grandchildren would be making caps for people all over the world.

She knew one thing: a good cap requires excellent materials and craftsmanship.

For one hundred years, nothing has changed in this philosophy. Every cap that leaves our workshop is the result of knowledge passed down from generation to generation. We are proud to continue creating new caps and hats for you every day.
