One Cap, One Craftsman

Every Leon is made from start to finish by one person. From the first cut of the leather, through every stitch, to shaping the cap into its final form. The same craftsman is responsible for the entire process and every stage of its creation.

Working with leather requires experience and precision. Unlike many fabrics, it leaves no room for corrections. Every puncture of the needle leaves a permanent mark, which means a stitch cannot simply be undone and started again.

This is why so much of the Leon depends on the knowledge of the person who makes it. From the way the material is handled and the precision of each cut to the instinct developed through years of experience.

This is what the Masterpiece Leather collection means to us. No rushing the process and no looking for shortcuts. Every cap is made slowly, from start to finish in our workshop, following the rhythm of craftsmanship passed down through the Sterkowski family since 1926.

From the Harbor Quay

The Docker is one of those styles whose form was shaped primarily by function. It was worn by people working in ports and on ship decks, where headwear needed to be simple, comfortable, and practical while working.

It needed neither a visor nor decorative elements. The small crown fitted closely to the head, while the turned-up cuff covered its lower part. This construction worked well in an environment where wind, cold, and changing conditions were part of everyday life.

Over time, its distinctive silhouette moved beyond the harbor quays. The simple work cap began to appear in everyday wardrobes while retaining its rugged, functional character.

The Leon is our interpretation of this classic style. We kept the simple form of the Docker but replaced traditional fabric with natural leather.

From Workwear to a Classic

Many styles that we consider classics today began their history as workwear. The Docker is one of the best examples. Its minimalist form was born out of necessity, not fashion.

Its visorless construction makes the Docker one of the most minimalist forms of headwear. It does not need many additional details to retain its distinctive silhouette. It can be worn with a jacket, coat, or a more casual outfit.

Natural Leather

We made the Leon from natural leather. It is a material valued for its durability, distinctive texture, and the way it changes with use.

Leather evolves together with the cap. Over time, it becomes softer and adapts to the way it is worn, while natural signs of wear may appear on its surface. As a result, every Docker gradually develops its own individual character.

Combined with the Leon’s simple construction, this creates a cap that needs no additional decoration. The material, form, and craftsmanship remain the most important elements.

One Hundred Years of Passion and Craftsmanship

In 1926, Anna Sterkowska opened her workshop in Warsaw. She could not have known that four generations later, her great-grandchildren would be making caps for people all over the world.

She knew one thing: a good cap requires excellent materials and craftsmanship.

For one hundred years, nothing has changed in this philosophy. Every cap that leaves our workshop is the result of knowledge passed down from generation to generation. We are proud to continue creating new caps and hats for you every day.
