1926. The year it all began
On April 18th at 5:00 PM, these words came through the airwaves: “Hallo, hallo, this is Polish Radio Warsaw, wavelength 480.” Janina Sztompkówna spoke from a small studio on Narbutta Street, launching the era of Polish broadcasting. A few months later, on November 15th, NBC aired its first nationwide program from the Waldorf-Astoria ballroom in New York City - and the age of mass radio in America began.
That same year, in Warsaw, Anna Sterkowska - a young and talented milliner - crafted her first hat. And so our story began.
Radio Days is a cap that connects these three beginnings. Not by accident - because sometimes a coincidence of dates says it all. In 1926, people started experiencing the world differently - through radio. We started dressing the heads of Warsaw.
